VARADO

VARADO is an art print series created for The Friendship Show 2 at Hot Pop Shop in Milwaukee Wisconsin.

This series of prints was inspired by the hay-day of motorcycle cross racing in the 1970s, made famous by the Bruce Brown film "On Any Sunday" featuring the King of Cool, Steve McQueen, and the godfather of all-terrain racing, Malcolm Smith. The multi-day races of the 70s, more specifically the Baja races spanning up to 1000 miles, have been a deep inspiration from both a design sense, and my personal love for motorcycles.

Varado, a spanish word meaning "adrift" was a driving concept during this project. After imagining a vast and never ending desert with little to no resources and hundreds of riders left abandoned during this race – isolation is a definite possibly, if not a guarantee.
